Beta Development IV

Dev's Thoughts

I just put up the latest Beta Preview on the other page. As always, feel free to drop any feedback through this form if you don't want to just shoot me a pm on discord.

Before we start, someone asked me why I have a page for the Alpha and an unlisted one for the Beta when I could just as well be uploading thme here. And, well, the answer is that...

  1. This page offers the full extent of the Alpha rules, including monster creation and other stuff. They are solid, and they are playable. The beta, regardless of how many improvements I'm making, is an unfinished product, and things are gonna get super confusing if I have a version with only 60% of the content alongside the fully playable Alpha. The Beta will make its way to this page when I've at the very least covered all the chapters and content of the Alpha (meaning, I'll post the Beta once the only chapters I've got left are the lore chapter and any extras I'd like to add to the Beta).
  2. I'd prefer to minimize how many people read the Beta previews. If I filter the entry to just my GDG peers and the followers who bother to read my devlogs, it gives any mistakes a much smaller impact, and I have a smaller audience to pay attention to.

Things are going pretty well, all things considered. The travel chapter was the last player-facing chapter I needed to finish before moving onto internal beta testing, and I'm already organizing a little campaign on my own to give it a spin. The rest are just lore and Arbiter stuff that hasn't changed all that much save for a few numbers in the case of monster creation, so I should be good to go.

Progress Report

The Journey chapter is officially done! It's more or less a polished port of the Alpha, though various QoL improvements have made their way into these pages. I'm sure there's another editing pass that needs to be done (esp. the last few spreads) but overall I've put a lot of effort into making this chapter the best it can be.

Before...

...and After!

Book IV (the Arbiter's section) i've just ported over without much thought. I have to tweak some things to "properly" if I want to include it in the next preview, but I've already toyed around with a bunch of things, like the monster format:

The tech chapter is next on my list. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but it's quite messy at the moment, since I've had to rearrange tech content back and forth between the tech chapter and the belongings chapter, and vehicles will return to it in the near future.

Anyways, that's all for today. See you next time!
